Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Program is a recently-formed initiative that strives to create opportunities for GEMS students to become more actively engaged in service-related initiatives within the school, the greater community and the world. This program works towards manifesting the mission and vision of GEMS as our students are empowered to engage in issues of social importance with a true sense of responsibility and ownership for global concerns. Through grappling with unsolved and often significant global challenges, students find their voice in how to assess and address the real needs of their school and local community. Through taking action, students see how they can truly 'make a difference'.

The Community Outreach Program strives to initiate incorporation and implement the objectives of a service-learning model into the existing GEMS curriculum. This enriches the classroom environment for students and fosters learning through experience beyond the walls of a classroom. Collaborative classroom projects allow students an opportunity to build greater self-awareness, develop leadership skills and positively engage with their surroundings with strong sense of purpose. By building lasting partnerships with NGOs and other organizations, GEMS will become an active and more visible community participant that is positively impacting the lives of others through service.

PTA

PARENT AMBASSADOR COUNCIL (PAC):

The number one reason anyone looks at our school is word-of-mouth, so, we have put in place the Parent Ambassador Council (PAC) where our current parents can connect with new parents to help them understand and know the school better. At GEMS we believe that active and ongoing participation of a parent in their child's school positively affects the student's behaviour and achievements. Therefore, we encourage our parents to be keenly involved with various activities and events conducted. The PAC is in place to provide a platform for this interface / interaction. PAC helps in building overall school spirit, enthusiasm, and community.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA):

The objective of the PTA is mainly to facilitate communication between parents and the school, and engage them in dialogue to better understand the requirements of children of GEMS. The PTA may also give suggestions in planning activities complementary to the curriculum. Through these activities the PTA intends to build a sense of community at school by increasing and sustaining parental participation and involvement in school events. The overall aim is to foster a healthy relationship between parents, teachers and the school’s leadership.

Student Councelling

THE GEMS STUDENT COUNCIL (NEWLY INTRODUCED 2020 -2021)

The Student Council is the formal student-led governing body of the school. The student council has three important roles: to voice the opinions, ideas and concerns of the student body to school faculty, to train students in leadership and to aid various school organizations in planning, communication and implementation of events.

GEMS's student council consists of the following elected positions: President, Vice President, and homeroom representatives. Within the representative members, two members are elected as a Secretary and a Communications Officer. The School Board will elect the students’ body as per the merit of the pupil

Student Council meets weekly to plan activities, to discuss and debate proposals, and to vote on resolutions. Agendas are student initiated and organized by the President and Vice President of the council. Members strive to make the school a vibrant place as they promote initiatives, build relationships with the school community and raise awareness about local and global concerns.
